Livingston striker Matej Poplatnik wins FIFA case against former club over unpaid wages

Livingston striker Matej Poplatnik has won a landmark case after FIFA handed his former club a transfer ban over unpaid wages.

The Slovenian joined the Premiership outfit last summer from Indian Super League club Kerala Blasters but has been used sparingly by the Tony Macaroni Arena side.

The 28-year-old started just seven times for the Lions last term, making a further 18 appearances from the bench. He netted three times - twice in the League Cup and an extra-time winner over Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup.

He was involved in a dispute over unpaid wages stemming from his time at Kerala before his move to Scotland and took the case to world football's governing body.

FIFA have now ruled in his favour by demanding Kerala Blasters pay him his owed wages as well as imposing a transfer ban on the club. That decision will be reviewed once the striker is paid.
