Livingston striker Gavin Reilly heads out on loan to Championship side Greenock Morton

Livingston striker Gavin Reilly has joined Championship side Greenock Morton on loan for the rest of the season with the Lions having an option to recall him in January.

The 28-year-old was signed in the winter transfer window last year and made seven appearances before suffering a 20cm tear in his hamstring that saw him ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

With the Lions signing Bruce Anderson over the summer and Jack Hamilton returning from a successful loan stint at Arbroath, the former St Mirren frontman saw his options limited in West Lothian and has elected for a step down to the Championship in a bid for more regular football.

Speaking to the club's official website, Livi boss David Martindale commented: "I’m really happy that Gavin is going to be out playing football in the Championship for at least the next 3 to 4 months.

“I think Greenock Morton are a great fit for Gav and hopefully we will see him hit the levels he reached in his previous stint in the Championship.”
