Livingston striker Bruce Anderson desperate to make most of new lease of life with Lions

Livingston striker Bruce Anderson says he believes stability will help bring out the best in him this season.

The 22-year-old switched Aberdeen for West Lothian during the summer and admits simply knowing where he'll be playing his football is a huge weight off his shoulders.

The frontman, who signed a three year deal with the Lions, had four separate loan spells during his time with the Dons, has netted four times in four pre-season games for his new club as they start their season today away to Brechin in the League Cup.

He said: "I am wanting to hit the ground running. I have a three-year deal and I want to do my best for the team and hopefully we can have good times ahead.

"It is probably the first time I know where I will be playing come the end of August. That has helped me as I feel confident and stronger and sharper than I have in the past. It is always in your mind ‘Am I going out on loan or will I be staying here?’. I am settled here already and I can’t wait for the season to start."

Livi boss David Martindale tried to sign the striker numerous times before finally getting his man and Anderson admits having the belief of the manager can help him succeed at the Tony Macaroni Arena.

"It makes such a difference having a manager who backs you," he said.

"I look forward to coming to training every day and now I have to repay him and hopefully I can to score some goals. I have the security now and I will give everything every single day. The main thing for me is I love scoring goals and there is no better feeling than when you do.

"I spoke to the manager here and I think he can get the best out of me. It is a great opportunity to get games and I think coming here will make me a better player. I knew a few boys here and they spoke so highly of the place and that made it an easy decision.

"It is difficult to leave your friends and family but that’s part and parcel of football. For me it was about coming to a place where I was going to become a better player and I think Livingston can make me do that. The chat with the manager made it a no brainer.”

Anderson enjoyed a spell on loan at Hamilton Accies last term and although he was unable to prevent them from relegation, he admits it was something of a turning point in his career.

He commented: "That six months at Accies was one of the most enjoyable spells of my career.

"I was playing week in and week out, testing myself at the top level. I proved to myself I can play in the Premiership, now I have to kick on and keep working hard.

"I am taking what the coaches are saying on board and hopefully my performances will show that."
