Livingston Soapbox Race is back for another year with 'thrills and spills', and you can enter

Organisers have confirmed that the Livingston Soapbox Race will be returning to West Lothian for a second year.

And people are being reminded that they can enter a team, and join in the action.

The event, which attracted 40 different teams last year, is being organised by the Livingston Round Table and run by volunteers. It will take place on Sunday, 30 August with racing starting at 11am. Gates will open an hour earlier.

And they say those who take part can "expect to see an exciting range of home-made soapboxes navigating obstacles and ramps with all the usual thrills and spills, and hopefully lots of money raised to ensure Round Table can continue to contribute to the community".

A number of roads closed in Livingston around the race track on Howeden East Road for the area's first ever soapbox event last year, and further road closures are expected this time around.

Last year's event was interrupted due to a crash involving a Deadpool-themed kart, but overall organisers hailed the race as an "amazing success".

Anyone wishing to enter a team into the 2020 Livingston Soapbox Race can do so by filling out a form on their website. Anyone over the age of 16 can enter, and there's a maximum of two people in a soapbox at once.

Soapboxes don't need to be a "professional build" and it doesn't matter how basic they are – as long as they are safe. For more information visit the Livingston Soapbox Race website.
