Livingston's preparations for Alloa Athletic League Cup clash hit by sickness bug

Livingston boss David Martindale fears a sickness bug could disrupt the Lions’ preparations for Saturday’s League Cup trip to Alloa Athletic.

The gaffer says several of the squad have been told to stay away from training – but the illness isn’t Covid-related.

Speaking to the Courier, the boss said: “There’s been a sickness bug so a few of the boys have been out.

“They’ve tested negative on their lateral flow tests, so it’s not Covid, but we told them to stay away for three or four days.

“You’re actually that obsessed with dealing with Covid you forget there’s other bugs out there that people catch.”

Despite the bug in the camp, he says he’s looking forward to the ‘tough challenge’ of facing Barry Ferguson’s side.

He said: “It will be a really interesting game. They’ve got a lot of good technically gifted footballers and I think Alloa and Barry Ferguson will be a really good fit for each other.

“It’s really about us making sure we turn up and play to our capability but it’s a game I’m very much looking forward to.”
