Livingston midfielder Ayo Obileye believes the way the club looks after the players as people can only reap rewards on the park.
The 26-year-old Englishman was a summer arrival from Championship side Queen of the South and says he’s been impressed with the ‘top level’ work the Lions do off the pitch.
Last season, boss David Martindale revealed he had forgone signing a new player to ensure the club brought in sports psychologist Dr Jagdish Basra to work with the squad and the former Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday man says he’s already feeling the benefits before he’s even played a competitive game for his new club.
Speaking to the Courier, he said: “The club puts a real emphasis on looking after you as a person first and foremost and a lot of clubs don’t do that.
“People outside of the club probably don’t really understand just what they do at Livingston and how much they focus on that side of things. It’s top level stuff.
“It’s great from the club to be bringing in a sports psychologist to see the players and make sure that their mental side is right. It’s honestly different gravy what the club are doing.
“It helps the players massively because if your mind is in a good place then you can get the best out of your ability and ultimately that obviously helps everyone.”
