Livingston midfielder Jason Holt confident 'gritty' Lions have turned a corner ahead of Celtic trip

Livingston midfielder Jason Holt knows his side will have to be horrible to play against if they're to cause an upset at Celtic Park - so it's just as well the former Rangers man believes they've reverted back to being exactly that.

The Lions' determination, pressing and high energy has served them well and been a key feature to their game since their return to the top flight three years ago and the 28-year-old insists they've rediscovered that side in recent matches.

Following a challenging start to the campaign, in which Livi picked up just four points from their first eight fixtures, David Martindale's men grabbed consecutive away victories before an impressive battling home draw against Dundee United despite being reduced to 10 men just before the half-time interval.

Holt said: "We’ve got a wee element of back being gritty, which has given us the results we’ve got recently.

"We had to show that again in the second half against Dundee United in midweek and although they had a lot of the ball I thought we showed that determination and got behind the ball and made ourselves hard to beat.

“I think we have shown that different side to the game recently, that grit and determination. It’s maybe a side that people don’t like doing so much, but you have to do it if you want to win."

He added: "We take pride in defending our goal and I think we’ve shown that in our last few performances.

"We were unlucky at the start of the season but hopefully we’ve turned a wee corner and we can continue to pick up points.”

As for today's clash against the Hoops, he doesn't expect that to change, saying: "We’ll look forward to it and be confident that we can take something from the game. I don’t think the game plan will change too much.

"There will be a big crowd and every player that joins the club, you look forward to these fixtures and you want to play at these venues - Ibrox, Parkhead, the big stadiums. It’s great to play in front of that many fans so the players will look forward to it.

"We’re under no illusions, it’s going to be an extremely difficult game and one where we’ll have to be well drilled, organised and when we do get the ball and move forward, we have to make the most of those opportunities.”
