Livingston man spends lockdown creating amazing fictional metro maps of West Lothian towns

A West Lothian man has designed incredible fictional metro maps of Bathgate, Livingston and Linlithgow.

Michael Kerr, from Livingston, spent a few days during lockdown drawing the maps using Google maps and local knowledge to help with co-ordinating the positioning of lines and stations.

The Bathgate design features the 'Easton Line' and 'Balbardie Line' while the Livingston version features the 'Almondvale Line' and 'Calder Line'.

Michael, whose day job is in IT,  told Edinburgh Live : "I was bored one Saturday during lockdown and it was raining outside.

"I live in Bathgate now, and I said to my son over breakfast how funny it would be if Bathgate had a metro, and I suggested a station at the steelyard.

"He then threw a host of other stations at me and I decided to draw it. I put it on the Bathgate Bairns Facebook page and got some great feedback, so I decided to create some more.

"I’ve since then drawn Linlithgow and Livingston (the latter where I grew up and still have a real fondness for the town."

And if you're feeling left out you'll be pleased to know that Michael has even more planned with Armadale, Dunblane and Kilsyth in the pipeline.

He is also considering creating an Edinburgh version split into four smaller maps, making one big one when all joined up (we'll take the lot thanks).
