Livingston interim boss says Betfred Cup quarter-final victory would be 'huge' for the local community

Livingston interim boss David Martindale says victory in tonight's Betfred Cup quarter-final clash against Ross County would be 'huge' for the community.

A win at the Tony Macaroni Arena tonight would see the Lions book a place at Hampden as they target a first semi-final in 15 years.

The Lions go into the contest on the back of three successive wins, while the Dingwall side sit at the foot of the Premiership table.

That, though, will play no part tonight says Martindale.

He commented: "It's a really difficult challenge but it's a massive game for the club.

"You win a game of football and you enjoy the high for 15 minutes and then it's on to the next one and you think about the next game. When you're at a smaller club it's inevitable that the next low is just around the corner.

"It's a huge game for every single person at the club, every single person connected with the club and the local community. Livingston being at Hampden for a national cup semi-final would be a massive occasion for everyone.

"That's the influences around the place that are making us hungry and determined to win the game.

"We go into it with a decent run of form but I really do believe that goes out the window in a cup tie. Anything can happen.

"They've got a few injuries but I'm a big believer, because we've been there ourselves, that in times of adversity it's amazing what you can do. It sometimes helps you.

"There's not a million miles between the two of us. We're fairly close together in the league and we beat them 1-0 here and drew up there so you'd have to imagine it will be a close game.

"We're going into it as the in form team but I really do believe that won't play a factor."
