Livingston get business done early with four transfers on window's opening day

Livingston got plenty of business done on the first day of the transfer window as the Lions announced four outgoing transfers as 2022 got underway.

Midfielder Ben Williamson had his loan move from Rangers terminated with the Scotland under-21 international heading to Championship side Raith Rovers for the remainder of the campaign, while striker Harrison Panayiotou had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Williamson arrived at the club in the summer following a successful loan stint at Arbroath but found game time difficult to come by in the top flight. He made just five league appearances for the Lions and was sent-off just before half-time against Dundee United in October. That proved to be his final game for the club.

St Kitts and Nevis striker Panayiotou arrived from Aldershot in August and played just 94 minutes for the club across five substitute appearances.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old midfielder Harrison Clark had his loan move to Arbroath terminated in order to allow him to join League Two title favourites Kelty Hearts until the end of the season.

And young striker Jack Hamilton, who grabbed eight goals in 14 league games for Arbroath last term, heads back to the Red Litchies for the rest of the campaign after failing to make his mark with the Livi first team. The 21-year-old made 10 appearances, all from the bench, for the Lions without finding the net this season.

Despite that disappointment, Martindale has already confirmed the 21-year-old will be offered a new contract in the summer and be given a chance to stake his claim for first team minutes next season.

Hamilton will team up with Joel Nouble, who will remain at Arbroath for the next few days before being recalled from his loan spell with the Championship leaders in time for Livi's return to action after the winter break.

Dick Campbell's men are due to host Inverness tomorrow before travelling to Ayr next Saturday, after which it is likely Nouble will be recalled by the Lions with their next clash being at home to Dundee on January 18.
