Livingston defender Jack Fitzwater targets another top six challenge next season

Livingston defender Jack Fitzwater knows the club's form towards the end of the season was disappointing - but that doesn't stop him feeling optimistic about next term.

Just one win in their final 12 league games saw the Lions edged into sixth place but speaking after their season-ending 0-0 draw away to St Johnstone, the centre-back believes everything is in place to mount another top six challenge after the summer break.

He commented: "The quality of the game wasn’t quite there but we had a few chances. We were solid, which we haven’t been in recent weeks. It’s another clean sheet.

“We finished sixth which is a great achievement but we wanted to finish fifth.

“We’ve done quite well this season. The end hasn’t been that great and we’ve tailed off the last five games but we’ve got to go again next season.”

He added: "The job was to finish in the top six and we achieved that. Anything from there was a bonus.

“Everything is in place for us to kick on next season and achieve what we want to do.”
