Livingston defender Hakeem Odoffin says he 'felt ready' for Celtic Park challenge

Livingston defender Hakeem Odoffin hadn't experienced anything quite like Celtic Park.

But that didn't stop him putting in a tremendous shift for the Lions when he came on as a half-time substitute in Saturday's 0-0 draw - and he says the confidence of his coaching staff and team-mates made him feel 'ready' for the challenge.

The former Northampton Town youngster replaced Ricki Lamie at the interval, with Lamie already having a yellow card to his name, and he says the players always knew they were capable of going toe-to-toe with the champions.

He commented: "It was nothing like I had experienced before.

“Coming on at half-time, I was told to work as hard as I ever have before and that’s what I went out there to do.

“To get a clean sheet away from home at a place like Celtic is brilliant.

"When you’re on the pitch, it’s just another game of football. Obviously the atmosphere is different and it’s one of the best you’ll ever see, but once you’re over that white line it’s about doing a job and I thought all the boys did that brilliantly.

“It’s a brilliant result."

He added: "When you have a plan and you know that you’ve got 10 other guys on that pitch who are following that plan, it becomes easier.

“It’s about knowing to do what we have to do and what we’ve been asked to do and executing it on the day.

“Being able to play in games like this is great. I felt ready because of the support from the gaffer and all the boys so it wasn’t something I felt I wasn’t ready for.

“I think we did ourselves justice. We gave everything. People might have thought we couldn’t get a result but in the dressing room we knew that we could because we know what we’re capable of.

“We can all be proud of ourselves.”
