Livingston cricketer makes senior Scotland international debut

Livingston cricketer Jack Jarvis made his senior men’s Scotland debut as they fell to defeat against Nepal.

The 19-year-old all-rounder earned his first call-up to Shane Burger’s squad for their tour of Nepal - which saw them play their final four games of the 2019-2023 Cricket World Cup League Two fixtures.

The Scots had already sealed their place as group winners and a place in this summer’s 2023 World Cup qualifying tournament prior to the tour, which included two fixtures against Namibia and two against the host nation.

Scotland got things off to the perfect start with a 10-wicket trouncing of Namibia in their opening fixture before Jarvis was handed his debut in their following clash against Nepal.

The Grange CC teenager showed great composure with the bat as he helped rescue Scotland’s innings from 111-6 to 274-9 as his score of 26 helped contribute to an 81-run seventh wicket partership with Michael Leask, who went on to score his maiden century with 107 not out.

With the ball, Scotland appeared in control as Nepal were reduced to 77-5 but great batting from Kushal Malla (81)and Dipendra Singh Airee (85 not out) saw the hosts win by three wickets.

Jarvis bowled four overs for no wickets and conceded 32 runs.

Scotland went on to defeat Namibia by 43 runs then suffer a second loss to Nepal - going down by two wickets - with the Livingston lad not taking to the field in either contest.
