Livingston boss David Martindale won't 'overthink' team selection during busy spell

Livingston host Ross County on Saturday to kick-start an incredible run of 11 fixtures in just 35 days.

But gaffer David Martindale says he won’t overthink team selections during the busy spell – which features two league ties with Celtic as well as a League Cup semi-final at Hampden.

He commented: “I’m a big believer in just putting your most in-form team out for a game and then dealing with what happens afterwards.

“Don’t think ‘I’ll play this guy here and drop him here’. Pick the best team and then if anyone looks a wee bit jaded or needs a rest then deal with that and make the changes.

“I’ll take every game as it comes. Don’t think two or three games ahead because then you overthink things.”

Livi take on the Highlanders hoping to make it eight wins on the bounce but Martindale says it will be no easy task, commenting: “John (Hughes) has given them a boost and some belief back. They’ll be confident.

“They’re a very good side and they seem to have turned a corner a wee bit."
