Livingston boss David Martindale 'looking forward' to top six challenge as Lions chase European places

Livingston boss David Martindale says he’s ‘looking forward’ to the challenge of trying to guide the Lions into Europe.

The Tony Macaroni Arena outfit sit in fifth place as they head into next month’s post-split fixtures and while the gaffer admits they’ll be the underdogs, he’s aiming to end the season on a positive note.

Livi get their post-split fixtures underway on April 10 away to Celtic and end their campaign on May 15 in Perth.

A top-four finish would guarantee European football with the Lions currently sitting five points behind a stuttering Aberdeen. Livi host the Dons on May 1.

Speaking to the West Lothian Courier, Martindale commented: “The games are brilliant. They’re against the best teams in the country and they’re all going to be really tough but a good challenge.

“Nobody really knows what’s going to happen. You could say Aberdeen and Hibs are slight favourites going into the games against ourselves and St Johnstone but really anyone can beat anyone.”

He added: “I’m really looking forward to the games and really looking forward to where it could take us as a club.

“We’ll go into every game as positive as possible and take it from there. We’ve got a great opportunity to finish the season on a positive note.”
