Livingston boss David Martindale says Stephane Omeonga was simply a signing too good to turn down.
The 25-year-old signed a two-year deal for the Lions subject to the Belgian receiving a work permit.
Omeonga enjoyed two loan spells with Hibs in recent seasons where he played alongside Livi’s assistant manager Marvin Bartley and has sealed a return to Scotland with the deal.
Martindale says: “Omeonga is a luxury in terms of numbers because he’s actually one more player than I really need but he’s one who could be massive for us.
“There will be selection headaches if everyone gets fit and there might be folk chapping the door in January asking to leave, but he was a player that we had to take once the option was there because he’s come in for peanuts and credit to him for doing that.
“It shows he’s here at the club for the right reasons.”
Martindale added that he hopes to have the former Genoa man available sooner rather than later, commenting: "He lives close to the German border so thanks to some forward planning by his agent, he's actually living in a hotel in Germany just now which is a green-list country.
"He'll go back across the border to Belgium on Friday to get his paperwork all sorted but every day he spends in Germany is a day he doesn't have to quarantine when he gets over here so hopefully it will be a case of him pretty much being good to go when he gets into Scotland."
