Livingston basketball player helps guide Scotland to bronze medal at prestigious competition

Livingston’s Callum Mortimer helped guide Scotland’s under-16 men to a bronze medal at the Copenhagen Invitational last week with a string of fine performances.

The West Lothian Wolves player was on top form in the group games that saw the Scots grab wins over Iceland and Denmark before being edged out by Belgium.

Callum top scored with 15 points in the 80-44 win over Iceland before tallying 18 in the 78-51 triumph over Denmark.

Unfortunately the 48-41 defeat to Belgium, in which Callum scored only three points, saw the Scots edged into second place in the group, which set up a semi-final clash with Kenya.

The African side proved to be too strong for Scotland, who lost out 91-58 to set up a the bronze medal match against England.

And the Scots would go one better than their fourth place finish in the same tournament last summer as Callum’s 11 points helped them to a hard-fought 96-89 victory over the Auld Enemy to grab third place.
