Livingston Athletic Club celebrated double success on the national stage as two club members were honoured at the Scottish Athletics Annual Awards in Glasgow on Saturday night.
The club had three nominations with Sandra Hardacre in the running for the Development Coach of the Year while siblings Isla and Sarah Calvert were shortlisted for the under-17 and under-20 Athlete of Year awards.
All of the categories were fiercely contest with Isla taking home the under-17 award.
It was just rewards for a fantastic season that saw her break the Scottish under-17 800m record twice with personal bests of 2:06.33 and then 2:05.09 to lead the UK rankings by four seconds.
She then ended her season with a gold medal in the 800m at the England Athletics under-17 Championships, having dominated the Scottish 800m Championships over the last two years with a clean sweep of gold medals in addition to winning gold medals two years running at both the SIAB and Welsh International matches.
However, Sandra did not go home empty-handed as she received the Tom Stillie Sword.
The sword is awarded to the individual who is seen to have contributed most to Scottish Athletics in the last year.
In addition to being Livingston AC’s lead endurance coach, and having guided Sarah Calvert to a European under-20 final and Isla Calvert to an England Athletics gold medal, Sandra is also a Technical Official working at over 60 events per year as well as secretary of the East District XC/RR Commission, and a regular team manager of Scotland and East District teams at endurance events.
