Livingston aiming to get Betfred Cup campaign up and running at Edinburgh City

Livingston will need to treat Edinburgh City with respect if they're to start their Betfred Cup campaign with a win, according to assistant manager Davie Martindale.

The Lions make the trip through to the capital this evening to take on their League Two hosts and Martindale has hinted that changes will be kept to a minimum.

He commented: "There will be a few changes but it's also important to keep the momentum going so you need to watch you don't change things too much.

"The boys are now gelling together and you can see that it's becoming a wee bit more natural on the park. It's a big change in the squad from last year and it's now getting there.

"There's going to be changes because you need to give boys a chance but it's also an opportunity to rest some but we're certainly not going to take Edinburgh City lightly.

"They're a very good football team and we'll need to treat them with respect.

"They've not had the luxury of playing competitive matches whereas we've got 10 Premiership games under our belts and you hope that works in our favour but I've got a lot of sympathy for lower league clubs just now."
