Livingston add to attacking ranks with Kurtis Guthrie signing

Livingston have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Kurtis Guthrie.

The 29-year-old was last with RoundGlass Punjab in the I-League but has spent much of his career in the fourth and fifth tiers of English football, including alongside new team-mate Cristian Montano at Port Vale two years ago. He was also a team-mate of defender Jackson Longridge at Bradford City.

Lions boss David Martindale also hinted that there could be more arrivals, and departures, before the transfer deadline shuts on Wednesday.

Discussing the club's new arrival, he said: "Kurtis was in training with us last week. He's played for a year in India but previously to that he was at Port Vale, Stevenage, Accrington.

"He’s played 150 odd games in League Two and Cristian Montano knows him really well from Port Vale.

"He can play as a seven, nine or 11. Can go in behind, he's good in the air and good physicality. He still has a wee bit of catching up to do on his fitness but he’ll bring a bit of a different dimension."

He added: "We’re heavily reliant on Joel Nouble and he needs a bit of competition. The good thing about Kurtis is that he can play anywhere on the wide areas.

"I’m happy to get that over the line and I’d imagine there might be one or two bits of movement on the other side then maybe try an keep that wee slot open for a last minute signing."

Guthrie has signed a two-year deal with the option for a third.
