Best in class: SensiTerre interior cladding by Florim Ceramiche

This collection of durable ceramic flooring and cladding surfaces was launched with a showstopping stand at Salone del Mobile and the texture of the material makes it hard to believe it’s not stone. ‘This was one of my favourite things at Milan this year,’ says Livingetc's executive editor Pip Rich.

Best patterned tile: Hittites by Otto Tiles & Design

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Otto Tiles & Design launched the Kismet collection, a standout of which is the Hittites tile. Channelling abstract Anatolian forms symbolising fertility and protection, the rounded, naive patterns have an organic sense of whimsy to them. ‘The fact that the colour palette is so neutral makes this graphic pattern really easy to work with,’ says Livingetc's deputy editor Ellen Finch.
