Livingetc Style Awards 2025 — Kitchen

Clever, considered and built to last, this year’s kitchen winners balance form and function with ease. Whether through sleek appliances, smart cabinetry, beautifully shaped detailing or subtle pigmentation, these designs deliver both style and substance.

Best in class: Schotten & Hansen x Pluck kitchen collaboration

British kitchen maker Pluck has recently unveiled a new collaboration with the German wood surface specialist Schotten & Hansen, using the latter’s labs to create four new colours just for Pluck. What these pigments do is enhance the natural grain of the wood, washing it in colour in a way that makes the whorls stand out, enhancing their inherent beauty. ‘And they’re so tactile to the touch, too – the texture is just remarkable. I’m ultra-impressed,’ says Livingetc's executive editor Pip Rich.

Best smart kitchen technology: Model 1S SuperOven by Unox Casa

This is a game-changer – with 400 in-built programmes, it can grill, fry, smoke, vacuum cook, dehydrate… oh, and it cleans itself, too. ‘Every time I see it I discover a new function. It’s incredible,’ says Livingetc's digital editor Hugh Metcalf.

Best kitchen taps: Southbank collection by Perrin & Rowe

Inspired by the Festival of Britain held in 1951, this decorative and detailed collection references the celebration’s iconic mid-century ideals. ‘The handle is very easy to hold and even easier on the eye – it’s a triumph,’ says Hugh.

Best hob: BORA X Pure Rough by BORA

Not having to have an extractor hood looming above is just one the advantages of BORA’s hobs thanks to the downward-sucking vents, and this model offers a host of new features. ‘BORA has revolutionised hob design and this new version is very impressive,’ says Livingetc's group editor in chief Sarah Spiteri.

Best kitchen surface: Bianco London Plane timber terrazzo by Foresso

Foresso is a leader in the concept of low-carbon timber terrazzo, recycling leftover woodchips to create richly patterned surfaces. The Bianco London Plane is a prime example of why this is so aesthetically pleasing. ‘Such a clever idea and so well executed. A really sustainable choice,’ says Hugh.

Best kitchen collection: Free-standing kitchen furniture by Neptune

Being able to buy not just storage but an island ‘off the rack’ is good news for anyone who just wants to blitz through a project without lengthy conversations about specifications. That every piece is made with the quality finishes and joinery the brand is known for is a big bonus. ‘This is such a great solution and every item is so well made,’ says Livingetc's deputy editor Ellen Finch.

Best kitchen design: Lipman by Roundhouse

Industrial, understated and impressive, the dark and brooding exterior of this kitchen design hides things like the rich walnut-trimmed interior of the larder. ‘The Lipman feels like it’s moving the style barometer on, taking hard-to-work-with ideas and making them seem effortless,’ says Sarah.

Best kitchen details: Mckenna kitchen by Makers

Curves play a huge part in the design here – including the arch of the wooden on-counter cabinet, softening the hard edges of this corner, and the bespoke rounded dining table. ‘The craftsmanship Makers is able to imbue projects with is evident in every single moment,’ says Ellen.
