Best in class: Fluted vanity by Blakes London
Usually better known for kitchens, Blakes London’s new vanity unit immediately stood out to all the judges, who fell for it on sight. Warm, honey-toned stained wood and marble have subverted its subtle Shaker influences, bringing the style completely up to date. ‘It’s quite breathtaking. The ultimate in luxury and spa-like serenity,’ says Livingetc's digital editor Hugh Metcalf.

Best bathroom surface: Rosso Dante marble by Cullifords
Rosso Dante, the new marble from Cullifords, has such an intense red veining that it practically burns, dramatically contrasting with metallic accents, rich wood finishes and the other materials that need to be in a bathroom in order to make it function. ‘It’s more than just an opulent choice – it elevates everything that you put with it,’ says Livingetc's deputy editor Ellen Finch.

Best bathroom finish: Tumbled aged brass by ABI Interiors
The range of finishes on ABI Interiors’ keenly priced fittings is large and well-rounded, but it’s been missing the antiqued patina that many of us crave. Until now. The variations in the new Tumbled aged brass finish look lovingly careworn and understated. ‘The finish brings so much character,’ says Livingetc's executive editor Pip Rich.

Best bathroom fixture: Dalby concealed shower controls by Drummonds
Inspired by the shapes of Victorian pipework, the latest addition to Drummond’s Dalby collection hides everything but the taps for these new concealed shower controls. ‘I’ve used Drummonds in my own bathroom and can vouch for the craftsmanship. The fact that the controls are now mostly hidden makes these elegant, too,’ says Livingetc's group editor in chief Sarah Spiteri.

Best shower: Riva Scala showerheads by GRAFF
The cylindrical showerheads in the Riva Scala range were inspired by the dashboards of luxury cars and yachts, and there is definitely a refined note to their polished glints. ‘I love how they look like high-end light fittings, and how customisable they are,’ says Hugh.

Best sustainable bathroom innovation: Sonic toothbrush by SURI
It’s depressing that every toothbrush ever owned still exists somewhere – most likely in landfill. And electric toothbrushes can be culprits, too – until now. Made from renewable plant-based materials and aluminium, the SURI toothbrush is recyclable. ‘This is an answer to a problem we’ve long been grappling with, and I’m delighted this option exists,’ says Pip.

Best bathroom heating: JJ by Tubes
Fresh from last year’s Style Awards win with the Dots – a series of towel hooks that were also radiators – comes JJ, a functional shelf that is also heating, too. In a room where every square centimetre is paramount, it’s very useful when something has a dual purpose. ‘It’s so architectural, and I love this thoughtful approach to how we actually use our bathrooms,’ says Sarah.
