Livi forward sings up for another year

Livingston have announced a contract extension for star striker Lyndon Dykes after just nine appearances for the Lions.

The Australian signed a one year extension that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2022 and he is hoping to be in Qatar that summer for the World Cup.

He said: “It is everyone’s dream. You look at the World Cup and think it would be great to be there. I have a goal in my head for international stuff and I am going to keep working hard and then you never know. The World Cup is in three years and in that time I can prove a lot but I just need a bit of luck and to play well really.”

Dykes, 23, has scored four goals in his first nine appearances, including three in the past three games after making the step up from Queen of the South in the summer. Livingston have had their best ever start to a season and Dykes just wants to keep working hard and learning from the players around him.

He continued: “I can work at a lot of things and there are things I can get better at. In the games we have played I can do better so I just have to show that.

“We have a great squad, you look at Marv (Marvin Bartley) with his experience at Hibs and he knows how to play simply and effectively. I can improve from each player but I want to improve my finishing and be deadly when it comes near the goal. People look at goals so that is my main thing this year.”
