Livestream of farewell Runrig gig rescheduled for this weekend

Runrig’s farewell concert ‘The Last Dance’, filmed at Stirling Castle, is to be live-streamed tomorrow (Saturday).

In association with Sky Arts, the streaming – originally due to have taken place last weekend – will now be available free of charge on YouTube via www.facebook.com/events/218882552660577/ from 7-10pm.

The 180-minute concert film captures the Scottish band’s farewell concert, filmed live in front of Stirling Castle in 2018 with a collective audience of over 50,000 fans.

The film celebrates the end of an era, 45 years of Runrig and a lifetime of songs, celebration and performances.

Rory Macdonald, founding member and bass guitarist, said: “During these uncertain times, it may be hard to feel connected with the communities we love most.

“We hope that by live-streaming our farewell performance, we’ll help reunite our fans and the Runrig community, and help raise the spirits.”

Fans can also engage throughout the live stream via the social channels. @Runrig1973 @BlazingGriffin using the hashtags #TheLastDance #ScotlandLetsDoThis #RunrigStream.

Gremlins were responsible for the last-minute postponement last weekend of the live-stream.

Digital entertainment company Blazing Griffin, who produced the film, said issues with “problematic copyright algorithms for all non-UK transmissions” had been to blame.
