Bushfire emergency warning lifted after lives and homes threatened north of Perth

A bushfire advice alert remains in place west of Woodridge Estate near Gingin.

An emergency warning has been downgraded for a bushfire burning near Gingin, north of Perth after firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control.

The warning had been issued for people between King Drive and Moore River, west of Woodridge Estate in parts of Woodridge, Caraban and Wilbinga in the Shire of Gingin.

The Department of Emergency Services (DFES) had said lives and homes west of King Drive were under threat from the out-of-control blaze and residents needed to act immediately to survive.

But the warning was lifted about 12:30pm, less than an hour after it was issued.

"The alert level for this fire has been downgraded as the fire is contained and controlled, and all running fire is out," DFES said.

"There is no threat to lives or homes."

DFES said there was still a lot of smoke in the area and urged drivers to take care.

A bushfire advice remains in place for people between King Drive and Moore River and firefighters are still at the scene.

The fire started near King Drive in Woodridge and was reported just after 11:00am.
