Bushfire emergency downgraded as firefighters contain blaze in Perth's north-east

A bushfire that threatened lives and homes in the north-eastern Perth suburb of Bullsbrook has now been contained.

An emergency warning was issued at about 11:30am for people in the western part of Bullsbrook, near Ellenbrook Road, in the City of Swan.

People in the area were warned they were in danger and needed to act immediately to survive.

The alert was downgraded to an "advice" warning at about 4.40pm after favourable conditions allowed firefighters to control the blaze.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said there was still a lot of smoke in the area.

Although there is no immediate danger, residents have been told they need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.

The emergency warning remained in place for more than an hour as the fire moved towards homes in the area.

A number of roads remain closed including Railway Parade and Maralla Road eastbound.
