Liverpool youngster scores stunner as U23s record 5-1 victory over Marine

Tony Gallacher scored a stunning goal as Liverpool U23s romped to a 5-1 victory at Marine.

The young Scot put Liverpool ahead in the first half with a drive into the top corner before the hosts equalised early in the second through a trialist.

But Neil Critchley's side quickly responded to the set-back when exciting youngster Fidel O'Rourke won a penalty after an excellent ball from Isaac Christie-Davies.

Canadian striker Liam Miller saw his spot-kick saved but converted the rebound to put Liverpool ahead.

Christie-Davies extended Liverpool's lead four minutes later, before Jack Bearne scored with two minutes left on the clock.

Miller got his second of the game - and Liverpool's fifth - when he scored with the very last last kick.

Critchley's side included stars from Liverpool's FA Youth Cup winning side such as Matteo Ritaccio, Elijah Dixon-Bonner, Abdi Sharif and Luis Longstaff.

There was no sign of Ovie Ejaria, however, amid reports the midfielder is set for a move to Reading.
