Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott agrees first professional contract at Anfield

Harvey Elliott and Liverpool have reached an agreement over the teenage star's first professional contract.

The highly-rated winger has agreed to a three-year deal at Anfield, set to kick into effect this summer.

Elliott, who moved to Liverpool from Fulham last summer, turns 17 in April.

He cannot sign a longer deal until he turns 18, when it is hoped he will put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal with the European champions.

The England youth international has played six cup appearances this term, and made his Premier League debut for the club last month against Sheffield United.

Jurgen Klopp has been impressed with Elliott and his maturity since his arrival on Merseyside, and is keen to keep a first-team pathway open to the left-footed attacker.

The German has described him as an "unbelievable talent".

He is likely to be handed another opportunity in the first team in next week's FA Cup fifth round tie against Chelsea.

Elliott is expected to play an increasingly important role at Anfield in the years to come, and has been mooted as the heir to Mohamed Salah on the right of the front three.

Elliott is being considered for a first England Under-21 call-up next month, with the Young Lions facing Andorra and Turkey in Euro 2021 qualifiers.

The FA recently sent delegates to watch both he and Curtis Jones in action, as they too assess precisely where they are with regards international football.

Elliott moved to Anfield last summer when his contract at Fulham elapsed and Liverpool are still to agree a fee with the Cottagers over his move.

That figure is now set to be decided by a tribunal, with Fulham hoping to receive in the region of £7million.
