Liverpool youngster facing end of season after devastating injury blow

Liverpool loanee Herbie Kane is facing the prospect of an early end to his season after suffering a devastating injury blow.

Kane is on a season-long loan at Doncaster Rovers and has become an integral part of their challenge for promotion from League One.

However, the 20-year-old midfielder is now facing the prospect of his campaign being over after suffering a serious groin injury.

Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho continues thinly-veiled attack on Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Doncaster boss Grant McCann revealed on Saturday: “Herbie will be out for about six weeks.

“Herbie has done a different part of his groin. He’s got a 10cm tear in his groin."

Kane, who signed a long-term contract at Liverpool in December, has been a virtual ever-present for Doncaster this season, boasting seven goals and nine assists in 41 appearances.

The player's expected absence would rule him out for the rest of the regular League One campaign, although Kane could be back in time for the play-offs.

Doncaster dropped out of the play-off positions on Saturday when, with Kane absent, they slumped to a 4-0 defeat at leaders Luton Town, a result which extended their run without a league win to seven matches.
