Liverpool youngster Caoimhin Kelleher opens up on how Alisson Becker has helped him improve as a goalkeeper

Young Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has opened up how he has improved by working with Alisson Becker on a day-to-day basis.

Becker , who is currently sidelined with a calf injury sustained against Norwich City on the opening night of the Premier League season, has quickly established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in world football since joining the Reds last summer.

And Kelleher , who is currently away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland's Under-21s, has praised the Brazilian for helping him improve in the time they have been working together.

Kelleher said: “It’s been very good for me.

“To be honest in the last year, I think I’ve improved quite a good bit in that part of the game and a lot has been down to him, just watching him and seeing what he does in certain situations in games.

“Speaking to him as well, he’ll speak to me on what stuff I can improve on, so it’s been a huge help.”

The 20-year-old was part of the Liverpool squad that lifted the European club in Madrid last season, and Kelleher is grateful for the opportunities he has so far received from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp .

Blood Red: Is Adrian good enough to deputise for Alisson?

“He’s probably one of the best managers in the world, so it can only be a good thing being with him every day," the former Ringmahon Rangers man said.

“He’s very good at man-management – you can see that in the way that all the players get along with him and even the players who aren’t playing or not in squads.

“He makes everyone feel a part of it, makes everyone feel like they’re making a difference to the team. He’s very good.”
