Liverpool are without Alexander Isak for tonight’s huge Champions League test against Real Madrid, but Arne Slot has recalled fellow summer arrival Florian Wirtz to his starting line-up.
Isak, the club’s £125million British record signing, has missed the last three games across all competitions after suffering a groin injury against Eintracht Frankfurt two weeks ago, and was absent from training on Monday afternoon.

The Swede is joined on the sidelines by Alisson Becker and Jeremie Frimpong, with Slot confirming on Monday: “All three are unavailable for tomorrow. Jeremie and Alisson will both be unavailable for Sunday.
“With Alex, we have to wait and see. Definitely not starting on Sunday but maybe involved in the squad. He is still not training with the team so we have to wait and see.”
Isak’s absence means Hugo Ekitike continues to lead the line, having scored in the Reds' last Champions League outing against former club Frankfurt.
Elsewhere, Ryan Gravenberch returns to the fold after recovering from an ankle injury in Liverpool’s much-needed 2-0 win over Aston Villa. Curtis Jones was able to join his team-mates at Melwood on Monday, but is on the bench against Real with the midfield trio of Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai preferred.
Slot has benched new left-back Milos Kerkez again, with veteran Andy Robertson keeping his place, while it’s Cody Gakpo that Wirtz replaces for the one change compared to last Saturday’s starting XI.
Giovanni Leoni remains sidelined for the foreseeable.
