Liverpool XI vs Nottingham Forest: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest today

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has been ruled out of today’s match at Nottingham Forest due to injury.

The Reds came through Wednesday’s narrow win over West Ham but remain without several players for the trip to the Premier League newboys.

In attack, Luis Diaz (knee) and Diogo Jota (calf) will not return until after the World Cup, meaning Klopp sticks with the 4-2-2-2 system he has deployed in recent weeks.#

That sees Fabio Carvalho and Mohamed Salah flank Roberto Firmino.

Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konate miss this weekend’s match but will return to full training at the start of next week, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is not ready to start against Forest but is “one or two weeks ahead” of Keita in terms of his recovery according to Jurgen Klopp.

James Milner starts against a weak team, so Trent Alexander-Arnold is rested after recent fitness niggles. The absence of Konate and Joel Matip means Joe Gomez continues in the starting line-up as he looks to make a late bid for a place in England’s World Cup squad.
