Liverpool XI vs Norwich: Starting lineup and confirmed team news for Premier League game today

Liverpool duo Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez make their long-awaited returns to competitive action against Norwich at Carrow Road today.

Both defenders have returned from long-term injuries and were able to get a number of minutes under their belts during pre-season in a huge boost for the Reds' tilt at the Premier League title.

Van Dijk starts in defence along with Joel Matip, while Gomez is a substitute.

However, Andy Robertson is less fortunate and faces a few weeks out with ankle ligament damage, meaning Kostas Tsimikas builds on his six Premier League minutes last season with a start.

James Milner gets the nod in midfield alongside Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita.

Further forward, Klopp has opted for Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota over Roberto Firmino.

The latter's extended run at the Copa America with Brazil, and therefore fewer pre-season minutes, looks to have played into Jota's hands.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Tsimikas, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Milner, Keita, Salah, Jota, Mane

Subs: Fabinho, Konate, Firmino, Gomez, Minamino, Origi, Woodburn, Kelleher, Elliott

Norwich XI: Krul, Aarons, Hanley, Gibson, Giannoulis, Lees-Melou, Gilmour, Rupp, Rashica, Pukki, Cantwell

Subs: Zimmermann, Dowell, Tzolis, Sorensen, McLean, Sargent, Mumba, Gunn, Idah

Today 5.30pm BST, Sky Sports

Venue: Carrow Road

Referee: Andre Marriner
