Liverpool have handed a debut to 16-year-old Kaide Gordon in tonight’s Carabao Cup third round tie against Norwich.
The Reds are without Thiago Alcantara, who was forced off injured during Saturday’s 3-0 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace and is also set to miss next weekend’s trip to Brentford.
“I can’t say now how long it will take, but not Tuesday and not the weekend,” said Reds assistant Pep Lijnders.
“Let’s get the scan results back and we have a proper diagnosis.
“A shame as well because he was taking the game [against Palace] by the hand, he was a proper playmaker in my opinion. A shame that we miss him.”
Jurgen Klopp has handed several squad players more minutes at Carrow Road, having also made several changes to his side for last week’s Champions League win over AC Milan.
Divock Origi and Joe Gomez were among the starters at Anfield that night and both feature again, while Takumi Minamino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also get game time.
Summer signing Ibrahima Konate makes his second start, while youngsters Gordon and Conor Bradley are offered chances to impress.
Liverpool starting XI: Kelleher, Bradley, Konate, Gomez, Tsimikas, Keita, Jones, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gordon, Minamino, Origi
