Liverpool XI vs Leeds: Confirmed team news, starting lineup and latest injuries for Premier League today

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson starts against Leeds United today.

Henderson missed Liverpool’s friendly against Blackpool last weekend as he completed the final stages of rehabilitation on the knee injury that forced him to sit out the end of last season.

Xherdan Shaqiri, meanwhile, missed large swathes of preparations for the new campaign due to an unspecified complaint and misses out again today.

New signing Kostas Tsimikas is also absent amid reports from his native Greece that he had tested positive for coronavirus during the international break.

Liverpool have thus far refused to comment on those suggestions having taken the same approach following reports of a positive Covid-19 test during their pre-season visit to Austria.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain represents the champions’ only other fitness concern, the midfielder having picked up a knee injury during pre-season that will rule him out of the opener.

Leeds: Meslier, Ayling, Koch, Struijk, Dallas, Phillips, Helder Costa, Hernandez, Klich, Harrison, Bamford
