Liverpool XI vs Chelsea FC: Lineup and confirmed team news - Harvey Elliott starts, Andy Robertson returns

Liverpool are boosted by the return of Andy Robertson for today’s crunch Premier League clash with Chelsea at Anfield.

The usually ever-present left-back has yet to play this season after sustaining ankle ligament damage during a pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao earlier this month.

Greek international Kostas Tsimikas has filled in admirably for Robertson in wins over Norwich and Burnley, but Robertson retakes his usual role in the back four for a huge showdown against Thomas Tuchel’s in-form European champions on Merseyside.

Brazilian midfielder Fabinho is also back to face Chelsea after missing the win over Burnley following the death of his father, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the bench after the birth of his first child.

However, vice-captain James Milner remains sidelined through injury.

Captain Jordan Henderson returned from injury to start against Burnley and starts, with Thiago Alcantara on the bench as teenager Harvey Elliott plays.

Meanwhile, Diogo Jota’s goals against Norwich and Burnley are not enough for him to keep his place in the front three alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, with Roberto Firmino playing.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson, Elliott, Henderson, Fabinho, Salah, Firmino, Mane
