Jurgen Klopp will likely look to freshen up his starting XI when Liverpool take on Aston Villa at Anfield on Sunday.
The German named an unchanged line-up from the Reds’ 4-0 win over Crystal Palace ahead of them ending up on the wrong end of the same scoreline at Manchester City on Thursday.
But, with just three days separating that outing and the visit of Dean Smith’s men this weekend, a degree of rotation should be expected.
Having both featured as substitutes at the Etihad Stadium, Takumi Minamino and Naby Keita could be in line for opportunities to impress.
However, wholesale changes involving promising youngsters such as Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott have already been ruled out by Klopp.
Asked about their chances, the manager said: "I don't think these kind of questions will be asked to Frank Lampard, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and stuff like this.
"We are champions now and we should now bring the young boys in, give them a chance, let's have a look'. So then we lose the games and everybody is going at us 'you have lost focus, you aren't doing this, you aren't doing that'.
"We want to win football games and to win football games the best players have to be on the pitch. If the young boys are part of these best players then they will be on the pitch.
"They are so close, they are really good. And they are our future, 100%. But they will not play now because I want to see them in a Premier League game. We don't give Premier League games as Christmas presents. We cannot do that.
"We have to make sure that the best XI on that day is on the pitch and the other guys who fit best in the formation will then come on."
The game is likely to come too soon for Xherdan Shaqiri, who recently returned to training following a lengthy absence, while Dejan Lovren is also set to remain sidelined.

Predicted Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Keita, Salah, Minamino, Mane
