Liverpool XI v Rangers confirmed as Klopp makes Firmino and Nunez calls with new signing on bench

Liverpool have named a star-studded XI to take on Rangers this evening.

Matchday day three in Champions League Group A sees Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men needing to take something from their clash at Anfield after defeats to Ajax and Napoli in their opening two matches. All the key stars are involved from the off, including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Thiago, Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez. Calvin Ramsay is on the bench after his summer move to Merseyside from Aberdeen.

It's been a testing time of late for manager Jurgen Klopp, who's side drew 3-3 at home to Brighton on Saturday, leaving them ninth in the Premier League table, but Rangers are well aware Liverpool are still a dangerous foe. He wrote in his programme notes ahead of this one: “Something that I have to accept – and more importantly deal with – is that we are not in a period in which we are in our very best moment. I said a few times after our draw against Brighton at the weekend that our confidence needs to improve and it does, but this is not something that just happens.
