Liverpool Women have completed the signing of Meikayla Moore from MSV Duisburg.
24-year-old Moore arrives from the Bundesliga after spending two seasons with Duisbuirg following a spell at FC Koln.
The German centre-back agonisingly missed out on the 2019 World Cup through injury but is delighted to have made the move to Liverpool.
“I’m really ecstatic to finally be here," she said. "The first few days have gone as well as anyone could have hoped.
“When I started talks with Vicky [Jepson, manager] and Emma [Humphries, first-team coach], I’m at a time in my career where I needed a new adventure and a new opportunity and I’m thankful that they were willing to give that to me.
“I’m excited to get here and really work hard for this team, for the staff, the club and the badge. It’s a massive club so it’s a huge honour to be here.”
Liverpool begin their Championship campaign next month aiming to earn promotion back to the Women's Super League at the first attempt and Jepson believes Moore has the 'right qualities' for her squad.
“We wanted to find a centre half who had age on her side but with experience at a top flight level," the manager said.
“Obviously Meikayla has that from her time in Germany but also from her considerable international experience. We spoke with her international coach who gave her an incredible reference.
“This is an area we needed to add depth to and she has a really high potential ceiling. It’s an exciting project for us to help her achieve her goals and she will bring the right qualities and values for us in our next chapter.”
Liverpool take on Durham on September 6 with the game being chosen for live TV coverage on the FA Player.
