Liverpool Women cruise to victory over Crystal Palace

Liverpool have soared to third in the FA Women’s Championship after a straightforward 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Rinsola Babajide and Amy Rodgers put the Reds 2-0 up before the break at Prenton Park, with substitute Amalie Thestrup and Babajide scoring in the second half.

The Reds are now just two points behind leaders Leicester City.

It was a quickfire start to the match, with Babajide playing a neat one-two on the edge of the box with Rachel Furness then firing over the Palace keeper Chloe Morgan.

And Liverpool kept up the pressure, with Taylor Hinds going close before Rodgers scored the second after 32 minutes, lashing past Morgan from range.

Thestrup found the bottom corner from 20 yards to seal the victory with 15 minutes remaining.

And Babajide got her second and Liverpool’s fourth deep into injury time, as Palace failed to clear a cross and the striker’s effort was deflected into the net.
