In-demand Liverpool winger urged to reject Leeds United and Aston Villa to join Rangers after flopping at Bristol City

Kris Boyd has told Ryan Kent to return to Rangers.

The 22-year-old revitalised his career last season at the Gers following a disappointing loan spell at Bristol City.

Bristol City were fined by Kent's parent club Liverpool for not playing him enough, but he turned his form around at Ibrox, enjoying the most productive spell of his career.

It has led to interest from the Robins' Championship rivals Leeds, along with Aston Villa, yet former Ibrox star Boyd says that, if Kent has ambitions to succeed at Anfield, he should return to Rangers for another loan deal.

Boyd told Sky Sports News : "If Ryan Kent is going to be a Liverpool player, up here is perfect for him to learn the way that Liverpool play because Rangers are doing the same thing.

"In terms of their possession - they're always on the front foot, they want to get their wingers on the ball to create chances and score goals.

"There's no doubt Ryan Kent excelled in that environment last year. Whether he can do it again next year is a different question.

"But I think he's a talented boy who will go far in the game and I think to learn the game, Rangers is the perfect environment for him.

"If he's going to be a success at Liverpool I think he'd be better staying at Rangers rather than going to a team that's at the bottom of the Premier League or a team in the Championship."
