Liverpool winger Ryan Kent aiming to kick-start career after growing tired of 'repetitive' transfer cycle

Liverpool winger Ryan Kent has admitted he has grown weary of the "repetitive cycle" of being loaned out every summer at Anfield.

Kent has spent the majority of his senior career on loan away from the Reds and is yet to make a competitive start under Jurgen Klopp.

Coventry, Barnsley, Freiburg and Bristol City have all had Kent on short-term deals over the last four years and the exciting winger is currently enjoying an excellent campaign with Steven Gerrard at Rangers.

The 22-year-old has been a regular since returning from injury at the turn of the year and it's believed Rangers would like to keep Kent on a long-term deal.

However, as reported earlier this season, Liverpool want in excess of £12million and are unlikely to sanction another temporary move when he returns to Melwood this summer.

Rangers are increasingly resigned to the fact Kent is beyond their budget and the Oldham-born winger admits he is keen to secure his long-term future when he returns to Liverpool later this year.

The former England Under-20 international admits he is tired of being dispatched out on temporary loan deals and wants to "settle down somewhere".

The Daily Record quotes Kent as saying: "I want to kick-start my career somewhere now. I am tired of changing clubs each year, I want to settle down somewhere.

"Liverpool have been good to me, but the enjoyment factor of going back there each year and doing well in pre-season and going back out on loan, it is a repetitive cycle.

"I was 19 when I went to Germany [at Freiburg]. I started off at Coventry in my first loan spell, my first experience of football in a men’s environment, then stepped up a division with Barnsley.

"I had a successful loan spell there and thoroughly enjoyed it under Paul Heckingbottom, who was a great help. I then decided to take it to the next level and go to Germany. That didn’t work out so I decided to go to Bristol City."

Kent was named on the shortlist for the Scottish Premiership's Player of the Year earlier this week and the skillful wideman has made a big impact north of the border.

"Then Steven Gerrard provided this opportunity for me," he added.

"I wouldn’t have got the opportunity to play in the Europa League anywhere else. In my eyes, the season has been a success.

"I have three years left on my contract at Liverpool and there’s not much I can really do.

"Whether or not I get opportunities to go elsewhere during the summer, I’d want a club with ambition, a club that’s driven on getting silverware."
