Liverpool will NOT sign Timo Werner this summer, fears Jamie Carragher

Liverpool may have to delay the signing of Timo Werner for a year due to the coronavirus pandemic, says Jamie Carragher.

Standard Sport understands that Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring the striker from RB Leipzig to Anfield, with Chelsea also interested.

The 24-year-old is in the midst of his best ever season, with scored 27 goals in 36 appearances under his belt before the coronavirus outbreak put the campaign on pause.

Now Carragher fears Liverpool will miss out on their no.1 summer transfer targets after initially appearing "nailed on" to snap up one of Europe's top talents.

"Timo Werner to Liverpool?" questioned Carragher during a question-and-answer session on Instagram.

"It looked nailed on before the situation we’re in now so it may affect transfers this summer.

"It may have to be put on the back burner, maybe for the following summer."

How would Werner get on at Liverpool? We loaded up Football Manager 2020 to find out.
