Liverpool will be hotter than Madrid as sunshine beams down

Liverpool is set to be hotter than Madrid today as the good weather continues.

Temperatures could exceed 17°C by mid to late afternoon topping the Spanish capital's maximum temperature of 16°C.

There will be little cloud cover and a low chance of rain for most of the day, although there is a slight chance of showers around 4pm, according to the Met Office .

The forecast for the North West states: "Early low cloud quickly burning back to the east, leaving many fine and dry with plenty of sunshine. Remaining dry in the north during the afternoon, but a few heavy showers or thunderstorms may develop across the south.

"Feeling warm. Maximum temperature 18 °C."

Tuesday will be cooler in the city with temperatures not expected to exceed 14°C, although rain is not likely.

The Met Office states: "Another fine and dry day across the region with plenty of sunshine.

"The breeze will tend to pick up a little, making it feel a little cooler than Monday. Maximum temperature 14 °C."
