Liverpool 'were prepared to do anything' to sign Serie A legend

Antonio Di Natale claims Liverpool 'were prepared to do anything' to sign him from Udinese.

Di Natale, who retired in 2016, spent 12 years at the Italian outfit and scored more than 200 goals, earning 42 caps for Italy and reaching the final of Euro 2012.

He had earlier bagged 55 in 177 appearances for Empoli before joining Udinese in 2004. Despite his personal success, he failed to win a trophy at club or international level during his career.

“I wanted to remain in Udine and had just signed a four-year contract, I’d won the Capocannoniere title, felt important here and simply didn’t want to change everything,” 42-year-old Di Natale told Tuttosport.

Liverpool wanted me at all costs too, they were prepared to do anything to get me to sign for them, but it would’ve made no sense for me to go to England when I’d already turned down Juventus.”
