Liverpool welcome special guest to Dubai training camp as Jurgen Klopp conversation spotted

Liverpool welcomed former player Dominic Matteo to their Dubai training base as Jurgen Klopp's side step up their preparations for a meeting with AC Milan on Friday.

The Reds were defeated by Lyon on Sunday evening in the Dubai Super Cup and enter their final knowing Arsenal have already been crowned champions of the competition.

Latest footage from training showed the first-team players and staff in high spirits as they look to get back up to speed for the second half of the current campaign.

Prior to taking charge of a session, Jurgen Klopp was spotted in conversation with Matteo and his wife and appeared to be enjoying their chat. Matteo has spent the last couple of years battling for his health after undergoing surgery on a brain tumour in November 2019. He was declared as fully recovered in April 2020.

His wife, Jessica, described earlier this year how the 48-year-old was now learning to read and write again, with Matteo releasing a further update on the third anniversary of his life-saving surgery last month, which read: "11-11-2019, the day that saved my life. Today, three years ago, mine and my families world was flipped upside down... it has been an eventful journey to say the least.

"Yesterday, after a painful three week wait, I received results of my latest brain MRI and I'm so happy to share with you all that my oncologist reports say that everything is still stable and my brain is regenerating. Today is a good day - big love, Dom x."
