Liverpool welcome new face to training camp as transfer option assessed

Liverpool are running the rule over young Spanish goalkeeper Javi Cendon.

The 19-year-old shot-stopper has been training with the first team during their training camp in Austria ahead of the new season.

Cendon has been without a club since leaving Villarreal at the end of the campaign following five years at the Spanish outfit.

The youngster was invited to train with the Reds and has been working with goalkeeper coaches John Achterberg and Jack Robinson alongside Liverpool squad members Alisson Becker, Caoimhin Kelleher, Adrian and Loris Karius.

The ECHO understands the Reds have been encouraged by Cendon's efforts during the training camp and will continue to assess the teenager.

He will come back to Melwood where he will continue to train with the first team before any decision is made over whether to extend his stay at the club.

Cendon, who has represented Spain at youth level, was part of the Villarreal U19 squad that reached the Dallas Cup final last year, a tournament in which Liverpool also participated.

He also won the Spanish version of the Youth Cup last year when Villarreal beat Atletico Madrid 3-0 to claim the trophy for the first time.

The Reds are back in action tomorrow as that take on RB Salzburg in a friendly at 3pm.
