The Met Office has revealed that July 2022 was the driest July for England since 1935, and the driest July on record for East Anglia, southeast and southern England.
But all of that seems to be behind us now, as August gets off to a wet start. Despite the rain on the forecast the temperature remains warm.
Today, on Tuesday, August 2, there's going to be a wet and blustery start to the day, but it will turn drier in the afternoon. It will remain windy though, with some showers into the evening.

Tomorrow there will be showery rain likely through much of the day, though mostly light with some sunny breaks. Lighter winds than Tuesday with a maximum temperature 24C.
It's due to settle down later in the week, with some showery rain on Thursday and Friday but much drier on Saturday, as high pressure builds.
Met office forecaster Aidan McGivern said: “Humid air coming in an area with low pressure, a couple of weather fronts crossing mainly northern and central parts of the country as we start off Tuesday and that rain will be heavy for southern Scotland, northern England, into the north Midlands, north west Wales, perhaps the odd rumble of thunder as well.
"Now the heaviest of the rain pushes away by lunchtime, skies brighten for Scotland and Northern Ireland, a few sunny spells coming through here, a few showers as well in the north west where it will be breezy.
"But for Wales and the south west I think it will stay damp and gloomy through much of the day but 23C, 24C nevertheless, and hot and humid towards the south east where it stays dry with sunny spells - and 25C also notable for eastern Scotland."
