Liverpool weather: weekend forecast sees heavy rain and wind batter city

Liverpool will be hit by heavy rain this weekend but temperatures will be milder than usual.

The region has been hit with harsh winds and bitter temps this week as an Arctic blast swept across the UK.

A yellow weather warning for snow was in place between Thursday at 8pm and Friday at 11am.

Temperatures this week have been as low as a real feel of -4C.

On Saturday and Sunday, however, we can expect highs of up to 9C.

The Met Office said it will "become cloudier and milder through the early hours of Saturday as rain, heavy at times, moves in and winds strengthen."

Forecasting experts describe Saturday's outlook as a "cloudy, wet, and breezy day as the rain clears east followed by showers through the afternoon.

"Mild to start the day but turning slightly cooler after the rain clears."

Highs of 9C and lows of 5C are expected.

Scattered showers are expected to continue into Sunday between occasional sunny spells.

We can expect highs of 9C and lows of 6C.

The driest times of the weekend are set to be between 2-3pm on Saturday, when there is a 10-20% chance of rain, and 6-11pm on Sunday, when there is a 10% chance of rain.
